CHILD CARE CONNECTION

The State of New Jersey Currently has two child care reimbursement programs. The following is a brief overview of each these programs in which you may be eligible.

New Jersey Cares for Kids (NJCK) is a program intended to subsidize the cost of childcare for eligible families. Applicants must be employed a minimum of 30 hours per week, be enrolled in a full-time school or training program, or a combination of both employment and school that equals full-time. Applicants must also meet the income eligibility guidelines set forth by the State of New Jersey.

Work First New Jersey (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) is New Jersey’s welfare reform program that requires all participants to be involved in a work-related activity. WFNJ parents may start in a job search activity and eventually become employed. Childcare payments can be made up to two years post-employment. Upon employment, the parent will be required to make a co-payment (a portion of the total reimbursable amount based on income and family size) for childcare services; the remainder will be paid by WFNJ on a voucher system.

If you think that your family may be eligible, please contact Child Care Connection at 609-989-7770.
